April Lemly, Artist-Educator-Instigator

About April Lemly,
Artist-Educator-Instigator

I believe that children are born capable! They express themselves in 100s of languages. I am honored and inspired by their creativity. I am but a guide.
Wild Color was founded by April Lemly, a professional artist and creative educator with a passion for nurturing imagination and confidence in children through art.
April brings a background rooted in both fine art and education. As a working artist, her practice is deeply inspired by color, nature, flora, fauna, and expressive mark-making. This artistic foundation informs every Wild Color workshop, where children are invited to explore materials freely and develop their own visual language.
Alongside her art practice, April has extensive experience working with children in creative learning environments. She understands how children learn best—through play, exploration, and hands-on discovery—and designs workshops that are developmentally appropriate, engaging, and supportive of different learning styles.
April’s teaching philosophy is grounded in process-based art education. Rather than guiding children toward identical outcomes, she encourages experimentation, creative choice, and problem-solving. The focus is on building confidence, curiosity, and a positive relationship with creativity.
Wild Color reflects April’s belief that art should feel joyful, accessible, and empowering. Every workshop is led with care, patience, and genuine enthusiasm for both art-making and childhood creativity
